Thirty Pieces of Silver

Without me I doubt you’d still be goin’

Some people think the truth ain’t worth knowin’

He knew all along so I guess it was fate

But if I’m damned to hell, it’s time I set the story straight.  They gave me

Thirty pieces of silver to sell out my best friend

Don’t ask me how he knew I’d disown him in the end

Did I have a choice; still wonder why

For thirty pieces of silver…  I let him die

Maybe it was the devil, maybe just greed

But he came to me with knowledge of the deed

I only did what I was told

But if I knew then what I know now, I would have asked for gold.  But they gave me

Thirty pieces of silver to sell out my best friend

Don’t ask me how he knew I’d disown him in the end

Did I have a choice; still wonder why

For thirty pieces of silver…  I let him die

Like any good tale, this one had a twist

Who would have thought it would end with a kiss

I hope that I do not sound absurd

But if it weren’t for me you wouldn’t know the word

There’d be no such place as paradise

But I never dreamed that I would pay an eternal price for taking

Thirty pieces of silver to sell out my best friend

Don’t ask me how he knew I’d disown him in the end

Did I have a choice; still wonder why

For thirty pieces of silver…  I let him die
